Metal Assemblies Ltd, a leading manufacturer of precision metal components for the automotive sector, has announced a significant increase in productivity following the implementation of advanced digital monitoring technology funded through the Made Smarter programme.
Founded in 1955 and operating from a 75,000 sq ft facility with around 120 employees, Metal Assemblies supplies key Tier 1 automotive manufacturers, supplying companies including, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, and Porsche. The company has been navigating industry-wide challenges , which have impacted production schedules across the automotive supply chain.
Through support from Made Smarter, Metal Assemblies secured funding to install Decade Monitoring Solutions across its press machines. This system, which provides real-time insights into machine uptime, downtime, and efficiency, has enabled the company to detect and respond to mechanical issues immediately, resulting in a notable productivity increase of between 30% and 40%.
Production Engineer Manager Ehsan Eslamian highlighted the impact of this investment, noting that digitisation was essential to improving efficiency without requiring significant upfront costs. Made Smarter also supported the creation of a bespoke digital roadmap, providing clear guidance on further steps toward becoming a fully data-driven, digitally integrated manufacturer.
